Amosa sponsored film screening in Latvia

On August 7, 12 years after the full-scale military aggression by Russia against Georgia, the Georgian Embassy organised a screening of the film “Shindisi” in Riga.

The guests were addressed by the Ambassador of Georgia, Tea Maisuradze and the Vice-Speaker of the Latvian Parliament, Dagmāra Beitnere-Le Galla.

In her speech, the Ambassador of Georgia spoke in detail about the Russian intervention in Georgia in August 2008, the Russian aggression and the grave consequences of the current occupation.

The Ambassador thanked the Latvian side and the international community for their support. She noted that Russia’s actions in Georgia, Russia’s disregard for international law and non-compliance with its obligations, undermine European security.

The Vice-Speaker, Dagmāra Beitnere-Le Galla, in her address, reiterated Latvia’s full support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. She noted that Latvia supports and facilitates Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration process. According to the vice-speaker, in August 2008 Europe saw the first war in the 21st century.

Russia’s actions in Georgia and Ukraine must be well understood, as no other country is safe from Russian aggression.

Among the guests at the event were members of the Latvian Parliament, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries, the diplomatic corps, the private sector and the arts, Georgians and students living in Latvia.

The event was sponsored by Borjomi. The co-sponsors of the event were also wine – “Amosa” and lemonade – “Zandukeli”.
